Dani Valent is a freelance writer living in Melbourne. She writes regular feature articles and columns for the Age, including a weekly restaurant review for the Sunday Age. In the Mix: Great Thermomix Recipes, Dani's first cookbook, was published in October 2011. The book features the recipes of great chefs around the world and is the Australian winner and world-runner up in the Corporate category of the 2012 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. Dani is the co-writer (with director Braden King) of the feature film Here. Here premiered in US Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival 2011 and went on to screen around the world. In April 2012 it had a cinematic release in New York and LA. Between 1995 and 2003, Dani travelled the world for guidebook publisher Lonely Planet, writing about places including Bulgaria and Bonaire, Hong Kong and New York, India and Mississippi. She wrote Lonely Planet's World Food Turkey book, which was shortlisted for the Andre Simon Memorial Fund Book Awards in 2000.
