Alison Lester

Alison Lester is one of the most popular and best-selling writers and illustrators of children's books in Australia, and has won many awards. Her career spans more than twenty-one years. Her famous picture book Are We There Yet? has proved to be an Australia children's classic, with over 150,000 copies sold. Her latest picture book Sophie Scott Goes South is based on Alison's real experiences aboard an Antarctic expedition ship. Alison's sure sense of colour and design, her humour, and her keen observation of the details of children's lives make her books lasting favourites. In 2011 Alison Lester was named Australian Children's Laureate.
