Schools' Program Ticket Information

Ticket Prices

For every 10 children/students booked, a teacher/adult will receive one complimentary ticket. All tickets are GST exempt.

Everyone is welcome to schools’ program events – you don’t have to be a student to attend and all ages are welcome. However, workshops are restricted to school groups and accompanying adults.

How to book

Be quick. Spaces are limited. First in, first served!

The easiest and quickest way to book is online. Login or create a new account here, add items to your cart and then proceed checkout. Your booking will be confirmed and you will receive your tickets via email.

Bookings can also be received by fax, email and post, using the Schools' Booking Form.

Faxed, emailed or postal bookings must include credit card details or a cheque. Cheques must be made out to Melbourne Writers Festival. Postal bookings close on Friday 3 August. Your booking will be confirmed and you will receive tickets via email when we have received your payment. No bookings will be confirmed until full payment has been received by Melbourne Writers Festival.

There are no refunds or exchanges once bookings are processed. Your tickets and a confirmation of your booking will be sent to your nominated email address. Please ensure you check this email address regularly.

Reservation process

If you have a more complex booking requirement and need to reserve tickets before confirming your final student numbers, please follow this reservation process.

1. Select your events: Choose the events you'd like to attend, and complete the Schools' Booking Form as above. Send your completed form to ticketing@mwf.com.au or by fax to 03 9650 6467.
2. Secure your reservation: Melbourne Writers Festival will reserve tickets for the events you’ve selected, availability permitting. Where an event is not available (sold out, for instance) we will assist you in placing an alternative booking, where possible.
3. Confirm student numbers: After 2 weeks, Melbourne Writers Festival  will seek confirmation of your booking via email. We will request any updates, such as revised attendance numbers. Attendance numbers can be changed by up to 20% with no penalty. However, if an event is full we might not be able to accommodate an increase. If required, we will raise a tax invoice with event and payment details.
4. Payment and ticket issue: Payment must be made via cheque, EFT or credit card immediately upon confirmation of attendance numbers. Once payment has been made, tickets will be issued and your booking will be confirmed.
