Melbourne Writers Festival takes place in Federation Square and venues around Melbourne and Victoria. Click the links on the right for more information about individual venues.
Getting to the festival
Federation Square is located at the corner of Swanston Street and Flinders Street in Melbourne’s CBD, close to the Yarra River, and within walking distance of many of the city’s major attractions.
Flinders Street Station is the nearest train station, and numerous trams – including the free City Circle tram – stop nearby. Federation Square’s multi-level car park is accessible from Russell Street or Batman Ave (Exhibition Street extension – City Link) and provides quick access to Federation Square.

Access and assistance
All Federation Square venues have disability access and lifts. Hearing loops are available in most of our venues. Please check the individual venue pages through the menu to the right of this page for more information.

Public toilets
Public toilets are located by the 7-Eleven in Federation Square opposite the Melbourne Visitor Centre and also in the Atrium. An ATM and public phone are located near the 7-Eleven.
