Sandy Jeffs

Sandy Jeffs
Sandy Jeffs is a poet who has lived with schizophrenia and all its moods for 34 years.

She has been active among community groups, speaking to the likes of school students and mental health workers about what it is like to live with a psychotic illness.

She has published five books of poetry, which deal with the disparate subjects of madness, domestic violence and the trials and tribulations of playing mid-week ladies’ tennis.

Her latest book, Flying with Paper Wings, tells the story of her traumatic childhood lived in the midst of her wife-beating father and alcoholic mother, and her descent into madness.
