Gary Presland

Gary Presland studied history at La Trobe University, Melbourne and archaeology at the University of London.

His major research interests have been in the Aboriginal and natural history of Melbourne, and he was the Thomas Ramsay Science and Humanities Fellow in 2001.

Gary is editor of The Victorian Naturalist journal. His previous books include For God’s Sake, Send the Trackers and The Place for a Village: How Nature Shaped the City of Melbourne, which was winner of the 2009 Victorian Community History Awards for Best Book.

His latest work, The First Peoples of Melbourne, Port Phillip and Central Victoria: The Eastern Kulin, will be published in September.
