At the time of European settlement the areas around Melbourne's CBD were a place where clans from the Eastern Kulin regularly met. Join historian Gary Presland as he leads you on a walk through Birrarung Marr to the MCG, talking about how Aboriginal groups making up Eastern Kulin would have viewed the landscape in times before European settlement.

Learn how traditional owners used the land and how the river acted as a social boundary between two resident groups - the Woi wurrung and Boon wurrung.

Gary’s most recent book – launched at this festival – is First People: The Eastern Kulin of Melbourne, Port Phillip and Central Victoria.
