The Burke and Wills Lecture: On Discovery

September 3
ACMI Cinema 1
2.30pm-3.30pm

Esteemed historian Geoffrey Blainey posits that since European exploration, the history of Australia has been a chain of discoveries: the discovery of federation as a means to govern this vast land, a system increasingly being questioned; of membership of Asia, to a degree still debated; of our land as the world’s great museum of soil deficiencies, and the limits of our remedies; of the antiquity of human settlement here, with profound consequences we fail to grapple with.
