Nikki Gemmell

Nikki Gemmell

Born in Wollongong, Nikki Gemmell has written five novels, which include Shiver, Cleave, Lovesong, the international bestseller, The Bride Stripped Bare and one non-fiction book, Pleasure: An Almanac for the Heart. In Australia she has been described as one of the most original and engaging authors of her generation; in France as a female Jack Kerouac and in the US as one of the few truly original voices to emerge in a long time. Her most recent novel, The Book of Rapture, published in Australia by 4th Estate in July 2009, is every bit as provocative and as deeply felt as The Bride Stripped Bare. It is a book of our time that challenges our beliefs about science, about children, about marriage and trust. Nikki currently lives in London with her family.
