Life, the Universe and NothingIt’s been 400 years since Galileo first turned a telescope towards the cosmos, so in this the official year of astronomy, internationally renowned theoretical physicist Lawrence M Krauss will ruminate on the future of the Universe itself. Why is the Universe we appear to inhabit the worst of all possible universes? Since we’ve discovered that the dominant energy of the universe resides in empty space, several fascinating questions have arisen: Can life be eternal in an eternally expanding universe? Are the laws of physics tailored for the existence of life? And what will science in the far future tell us about the universe? This session will be chaired by science communicator Niall Byrne. Proudly supported by the Finkel Foundation Information Date: 23 August Time: 8pm - 9pm Venue: RMIT Capitol Theatre Session code: 2343
