His first book as sole author, The Long Patrol Ė Australia and East Timorís Wars, is a history book for teenage readers. It begins with Australian commandos invading East Timor in 1941 and chronicles the Indonesian invasion, East Timorese resistance, the 1999 referendum and East Timorís ongoing troubles as an independent state. The book is part of The Drum series of non-fiction titles for young people, published by Black Dog Books.
