Gaylene Perry's book Midnight Water: A Memoir (Picador) was shortlisted for the National Biography Award. She has most recently been writing a novel, The Colour of Happiness is Blue, exploring the effects pornography has on one marriage and family. She has just begun a new writing and art installation project relating to art and life on the margins of societies. Gaylene teaches fiction and life-writing at Deakin University’s Melbourne campus.
