Anita Heiss Anita Heiss Dr Anita Heiss, a Wiradjuri woman living in Sydney, is a writer, poet, activist, social commentator and satirist. Her novel Not Meeting Mr Right and the sequel, Avoiding Mr Right add to her extensive body of work. Her book, The diary of Mary Talence, Sydney 1937, was shortlisted for the NSW Premier's Literary Awards Young People's History Prize. In 2003, Heiss received the ASA Medal for Under 35s for her contribution to Australian community and public life. In 2007, she won the Deadly Award for Outstanding Achievement in Literature.
She describes herself as a concrete Koori with a Westfield dreaming - a city chick whose idea of Survivor is a night in a caravan.
