Simon Cleary’s first novel is The Comfort of Fig. He grew up in a house in Toowoomba overlooking an enormous Moreton Bay fig tree and now lives in Melbourne.
After studying Literature and Law at university in Brisbane, Simon worked for many years as a public interest lawyer, including four years at Redfern Legal Centre in Sydney, and 10 years with the Legal Aid office in Queensland. In 2006, Simon was the emerging writer-in-residence at the Queensland Writer’s Centre.
