Peter van Onselen

Dr Peter van Onselen is an Associate Professor in Politics and Government at Edith Cowan University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in Political Science and a Masters in Policy Studies, both from the University of New South Wales.

Dr van Onselen was awarded his PhD in political science from the University of Western Australia and has lectured in politics at Edith Cowan University since mid 2004. Prior to commencing employment at ECU Dr van Onselen lived in Sydney and worked at the University of New South Wales, as a ministerial staffer for the Commonwealth Government, and in the policy division of a major Non-Government Organisation.

Dr van Onselen is a regular contributor to The Australian, The Australian Financial Review, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Courier Mail, and is a regular commentator on political matters for television and radio both nationally and in Perth. Dr van Onselen has published in a wide variety of academic journals, including The Australian Journal of Political Science, The Australian Journal of Communication and The Journal of Legislative Studies.

Along with Dr Wayne Errington he is the author of John Winston Howard: The Biography, published by Melbourne University Press.
