Poetry Idol HeatsWhether you are an angelheaded hipster burning for that ancient heavenly connection, or just a geek who likes to recite in the shower, you can have a shot at prizes and publication by entering Poetry Idol, the Age Melbourne Writers’ Festival’s poetry slam competition. There are substantial prizes on offer and the winner will receive a contract from Picaro Press for a 28 page chapbook of their work.So choose your measure, find your rhymes and get ready to make those iambic feet dance! Heats take place Sunday afternoons throughout August at St Kilda Library, 150 Carlisle Street, with the Grand Final on Sunday, September 2 at 6.30pm at the {Beckett Theatre, CUB Malthouse<,b}. The Age Poetry Editor Gig Ryan and other expert judges will hand out the ‘touchdowns!’ and the ‘goony goo goos’.
